Are you pregnant, or breastfeeding?

Do you take blood thinners, or have you taken aspirin or ibuprofen in the last 24 hours?

For example warfarin, apixaban (Eliquis), rivaroxaban (Xarelto), clopidogrel (Plavix), daily aspirin, Advil or Aleve.

Do you have a bleeding or clotting disorder?

Such as haemophilia or von Willebrand disease, or do you bleed or bruise very easily?

Do you have diabetes?

It can slow healing. Eat before your session and bring your supplies.

Do you have a heart condition or a pacemaker, or high or low blood pressure?

Do you have epilepsy, or have you had seizures?

Have you ever fainted during a tattoo, piercing, injection or blood test?

Do you have an immune condition, or treatment that weakens your immune system?

For example an autoimmune disease, chemotherapy, long-term steroids, or an organ transplant.

Do you have hepatitis B or C, HIV, or another infection that can pass through blood?

You don't have to answer this. Vik uses single-use needles and the same full infection-control precautions with every client either way. Telling him helps him look after your healing.

Is there any skin condition where the tattoo will go?

Eczema, psoriasis, a rash, acne, moles, a cut or wound, or a recent scar.

Do you form keloids or raised (hypertrophic) scars?

Is the skin where the tattoo will go sunburnt or peeling, or likely to be on the day?

Vik can't tattoo sunburnt skin. Keep the area out of the sun before your session.

Are you allergic to latex?

Any other allergies?

Tattoo inks or pigments (especially red), metals such as nickel, adhesives or medical tape (second skin has adhesive), soap or antiseptic, ointments or creams, or medications.

Are you taking any medication, prescription or over the counter?

Including antibiotics, steroids, painkillers and supplements.

Have you taken isotretinoin (Accutane, Epuris, Clarus) in the last 12 months?

It keeps skin fragile for 6 to 12 months after the last dose, so Vik may suggest waiting.

Have you had alcohol or recreational drugs in the last 24 hours, or will you before your session?

Alcohol and some drugs thin the blood and affect healing. Vik won't tattoo anyone under the influence.

Can Vik photograph your tattoo for his portfolio and social media?

Only the tattoo: your face is never shown unless you tell him it's OK. Saying no changes nothing about your session.
